Tom Rogers, a former college trustee, was head football coach at Denison from 1935-41.

As head coach, he posted a 37-18-2 record in seven seasons, including a 6-1-1 record which was the best record in Ohio in 1937.  In his final season, his squad posted a 7-1-1 record and outscored opponents 200-29.

A native of Washington Court House, Ohio, Rogers received the Ph.B. degree from Denison in 1925.  Named to the All-Ohio backfield in 1924 and 1925, he captained the 1924 team.

Rogers joined the Denison coaching staff after graduating and was named head coach in 1935.  He served the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946, leaving the service with the rank of commander.

Returning to Newark, Rogers was one of the founders of radio station WCLT.  He served as the station’s manager from its airing in 1946 until 1967.  He was also president of WCLT.

Tommy served as an alumni-elected trustee on Denison’s board of trustees from 1958 to 1961.  The College awarded him an Alumni Citation in 1952.
