Julie Hufnagel Covington ’04 was a four-year letter winner in both cross country and track & field. As a senior in 2003 in cross country, she earned All-American honors placing 31st at the NCAA Championships, and she was the NCAC Runner of the Year and the NCAC Individual Champion. Also in 2003, Julie led her Denison team to the NCAC Championship in 2003 and a fourth-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional.
Julie was a three-time first-team All-Conference (2001, 2002, 2003) and a three-time All-Great Lakes Region (2001, 2002, 2003) runner in cross country, while on the track, she was a five-time All-NCAC performer and three-time NCAC event champion. In indoor track & field, she won a conference championship in the 1,500 in 2004 and the distance medley relay in both 2001 and 2002. She also is a member of Denison’s indoor record-holding distance medley relay team, which ran a time of 12:18.55 in 2003.
As a senior in 2004, Julie was a recipient of the President’s Medal, Denison’s highest student honor, as well as the exclusive NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and CoSIDA Academic All-American recognition.
