He was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American second-team in 1999 and was selected to play in the USILA's North-South Senior All-Star Game.

Pennimpede was a four-year starter for the Big Red and was a four-time All-NCAC honoree, earning first-team accolades three times and honorable mention once. Despite playing primarily as a defensive midfielder, Pennimpede still managed to record 34 goals and 25 assists in his career.

He is a veteran of the United States Army Reserves and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He is currently employed by the Veterans Health Administration as its chief of patient business service. He received his M.A. in health administration and also has served as a high school lacrosse coach, helping Summit Country Day School earn an Ohio State Championship in 2006.
