Coach Richard Scott was a coach and professor at Denison for 20 years. He served as the head men’s basketball coach from 1958 through 1979. During the 1967-68 season, his team won the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship and finished third in the NCAA Mid-east Region. Dick was selected as the OAC “Coach of the Year” in the 1967-68 season. He served as the men’s tennis coach from 1959 to 1971 and again from 1976 to 1979. His men’s tennis team was the OAC champions in 1963, 1968 and 1979. Scott also served as baseball coach for four seasons and assistant football coach over 18 years.

Dick received his bachelor’s degree from Widner College and master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. After his career at Denison, he was on the staff of the United States Sports Academy. At the United States Sports Academy, he served as the Program Director of the Royal Saudi Air Force Sports Complex in Dhahran, S.A. There he was the Academy’s Director of Recruiting and the Project Director for the Royal Saudi Air Force Sports Complex in Tabuk, S.A. From 1989 to 1995, Dick was the Director of Athletics at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.
