Dan Paro was a four-year letter winner in football from 1979-82, a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection as a punter earning All-American honors in 1982.
During his four years, Paro played in every game, showing versatility by starting at middle guard, defensive end, linebacker, defensive back, punter and kicker.
He remains Denison's career leader in season punting average (42 yards), career punting average (40 yards), and most consecutive PAT's (57 for 57). In 1979, Paro booted a 37-yard field goal as time expired to defeat the defending national champion, Baldwin Wallace, ending their 21-game winning streak. As a junior, Paro led the nation in punting with a 41.2-yard average. The following year he finished second in the nation with a 42.0-yard average. That year he was a co-captain and was named the team's most valuable player. While at Denison, Paro was a member of Beta Theta Pi.
In 1983, Paro spent a mini-camp with the Detroit Lions and later signed as a free agent with the defending world champion Washington Redskins. Paro has been coaching football at Georgetown Prep since 1986. In 1997, he was named the head coach of the Little Hoyas. In 19 seasons they have posted a record of 123-66. From 2000-03 the program won 30 consecutive games. Paro remains the head coach and is also the school's Director of Athletics overseeing a program that has won 99 conference championships.
Paro earned a Master's in Athletic Administration from Ohio University in 1985. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Bethesda, Maryland. They have two daughters, Jenna and Lilly.
