Lauren Gerlach is a four-year letter winner and five-time All-American from 2001-04.  As a member of the women’s tennis team, Gerlach was a part of three NCAA Tournament teams and the Big Red’s first NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in 2004.

Gerlach won 75 career matches, with 31 victories coming in singles play and 44 in doubles.  As a rookie in 2001, she was named the NCAC Player of the Year and the conference Newcomer of the Year after going 14-5 at No. 1 singles.  She was a six-time first-team All-NCAC selection across singles and doubles play, and in 2004 she was named the NCAA Regional Senior Player of the Year.

An outstanding student, Gerlach earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status and was the recipient of an Anderson Scholarship at DU. After graduation in 2004, Gerlach would complete a post-baccalaureate program at The University of Pennsylvania, followed by medical school at the Western University of Health Science.

She is currently completing her residency at The University of Michigan.  In 2013, she received the University of Michigan’s Frankwood Williams Inpatient Teaching Award, and earlier this year she was awarded the Herbert Schmale Outpatient Teaching Award.
