Lowell Byers ’08 was a four-year letter winner and four-time national swimming champion: 800 free relay in 2006, 2007, and 2008; and 400 free relay in 2007. He was a seven-time All-American in individual events and a 19-time All-American in relay events — 50 free: 2005, 2006; 100 free: 2005, 2006; 100 fly: 2007, 2008; 100 back: 2005; 200 free relay: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008; 400 free relay: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008; 800 free relay: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008; 200 medley relay: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008; 400 medley relay: 2006, 2007, 2008. Lowell was a four-time NCAC individual champion and seven-time NCAC relay champion — 50 free: 2005, 2006; 100 free, 2005; 100 fly, 2008; 200 free relay: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008; 400 free relay: 2006, 2008; 200 medley relay: 2006. Both achievements are the third most such honors in program history. Lowell was a member of Denison men’s swimming & diving teams that finished second nationally in 2006 and 2007, third in 2008, and fifth in 2005. He was named the National Swimmer of the Month by CollegeSwimming.com in December of 2006. Lowell is now a professional stage and screen actor.
