Matt Trumbull was a four year letter winner and four-time National Champion as a member of the Denison men’s swimming and diving team form 1996-99. Over the course of his career, Trumbull amassed 25 All-American performances at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships and led his team to a pair of second place finishes (1996, ’99) and two third place finishes (1991, ’98) at nationals.

In 1996, Trumbull captured his first national championship in the 400 individual medley and also swam the anchor leg on the winning 800 freestyle relay team. He would repeat as 400 IM national champion in 1998, and in 1999 he set a school record that still stands in the 200 individual medley. That time of 1:50.40 earned him his fourth national title.

A four-year All-NCAC performer, Trumbull was a two-time conference champ in the 200 IM. He was a three-time CSCAA Academic All-American and a CoSIDA Academic All-America choice in 1999. That same year he became Denison’s 26th recipient of the NCAA’s prestigious Postgraduate Scholarship.
