Upon his graduation from Denison, Charlie was commissioned as a second lieutenant reserve office in the Air Force and was awarded the U.S. Air Force’s Commendation Medal and Bronze Star for Service.  Campbell, who holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Dayton, began his career at Miami-Jacobs College, a private business school in Dayton.  By 1983, he had become the president of the college.

Campbell owns the fourth-best time in the outdoor 1,500 and the fifth-best time in the indoor mile, both of which he achieved as a senior.
