Glenn "Tiger" Ellison graduated from Denison after receiving recognition for his achievements in both football and track.  A three-time letterman in football, Ellison was named All-Buckeye Guard in 1931 and All-Ohio Guard in 1932. He was said to be ideally fit for the position he played and doubled as a linebacker on defense. He also lettered three years in track as a shot put and discus performer and was a member of Denison’s 1933 Ohio Athletic Conference championship team. Ellison was also an active member of Denison’s Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Ellison, who earned a master’s degree in counseling, made his way to Middletown, Ohio in 1933 where he taught English and coached football at the high school level. Ellison developed the now-famous Run and Shoot football offense while in Middletown and was named Ohio Coach of the Year in 1961. He produced eight All-Ohio quarterbacks with his innovative offensive attack. He also served twice as President of the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association. Ellison ended his coaching career after six years at The Ohio State University, working under Denison teammate Woody Hayes.
