Ed Starinchak was a four-year letter winner in football from 1954 to 1957. Following his senior season, he was named to the Little All-American Team in addition to earning All-Ohio Conference accolades. He starred on the offensive and defensive line for some of Head Coach Keith Piper’s earliest teams.

In the 1956 football media guide, Starinchak is described as a “hard-nosed human bulldozer who loves contact.” The praise continued, saying there was “none better defensively.” As a sophomore, he was named Denison’s Most Efficient Defensive Lineman, and in 1956, he was selected to the national All-Sigma Chi Team.

After Denison, Starinchak served as a captain in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1963 to 1971. He earned his M.D. at Ohio State Medical School in 1963 and went on to complete residencies at the University of Wisconsin and Duke University. From 1969 through 2000, Starinchak practiced otolaryngology (ear, nose, throat, head, and neck surgery) and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.
