Cole Newman was a four-year letter winner from 1997-2000 and an All-American in men's tennis in 1999. He was also named to the North Coast Athletic Conference's 20th Anniversary All-Decade team for his achievements in singles play.

Newman left Denison with 64 doubles victories and 55 singles wins, ranking him among the school's all-time leaders in both categories.  In 1999 he was the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional champ and in 2000 he went on to serve as a team captain.  Newman was a seven-time All-NCAC selection, earning four certificates in singles play and three in doubles.

Since graduating from Denison in 2000, Newman has gone on to win five national father-son doubles championships with his father, Dr. Neal Newman. Cole and his wife, Rebecca, live in Santa Monica, California where he works as a tennis professional and a musician.
