Megan Whiteside Shafer was a four-year letterwinner in soccer and track & field and a one year letterwinner in basketball during her time at Denison.

She is the NCAC record holder in season assists and career assists in soccer. In 1993 Megan was named the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year in and was a first-team NSCAA All-American. Over the course of her career she earned 14 all-conference honors and holds the school record in the outdoor triple jump (34’5”).  She also ranks third in the indoor (5’1”) outdoor (5’2”) high jump and had the third-best heptathlon score in school history (3’485).

She received the prestigious Presidential Medal in 1994 and earned her degree in sociology/anthropology with honors. She was a Department Fellow and received the Denison Distinguished Leadership Award in 1994. She went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from Temple School of Law in 2000.
