Gerald Gaynor was a three-time letterwinner in football at Denison. He was the starting right halfback on DU’s first undefeated football team in 1947. Gaynor was also a starter in the Blue-Grey All-Star Game in Montgomery, Ala., in ’47. He was a Rotary International Fellow in 1948-49 as a student at the University of Paris, and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University Teachers’ College. Gaynor taught math and coached football, tennis, and diving at the high school level. He was honored by Oak Park High School for his service as both a teacher and a coach when he was inducted into the Oak Park Hall. Gaynor was also a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force Reserve. While at Denison he was a member of the Blue Key and Omicron Delta Kappa honoraries, and the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
