This year’s Varsity D Association Citation recipient is 1975 graduate, Steven M. Mohr. A letter winner in four sports and a standout on the gridiron under head coach Keith Piper, Mohr has gone on to become one of the most successful small college football coaches in the country.  He has coached at Trinity University (Texas) for the last 21 years, leading the Tigers to a record of 170-60 highlighted by four NCAA Division III semifinal appearances and one appearance Division III National Championship game in 2002.

Mohr ranks 10th among active coaches in terms of winning percentage and is the 29th winningest coach in Division III history. Mohr has been named National Coach of the Year by three organizations and 25 players have earned All-America honors under his tutelage.  Prior to taking over at Trinity, Mohr was an assistant football and baseball coach at Ithaca College (1985-89) and was the head baseball coach and assistant football coach at The University of Findlay from 1976-1984.

At Denison he was a first-team All-OAC selection in 1975 and was invited to play in the All-Ohio Shrine Bowl that season.  In football, Mohr’s teams posted a record of 18-15-3 from 1972-75, highlighted by a 7-1-1 season in 1972.  In addition to being a four-year letter winner in football, Mohr excelled also in baseball, basketball, and golf.  After leaving Denison he went on to earn his Masters of Education at Bowling Green.
