LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Denison women's cross country team wrapped up its 2024 campaign with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship on Saturday, compiling 524 points against a deep and competitive field. The women's 18th-place finish at this year's Regionals is the program's second-best finish at the meet since the Regions were re-aligned in 2021; the previous best finish for the women at Regionals was 17th in 2022.
First-year standout Shaylee Murdough once again set the pace for the Big Red, placing 56th in a time of 23:28.12, her second-fastest 6K effort of the season. Jane McNamara followed as Denison's No. 2 runner, taking 82nd in 24:03.59, a season-best time. Denison's scoring pack continued with Floralysse Biteau, who claimed 115th in 24:47.17, and Serafina Lavallee, finishing close behind in 120th at 24:52.11, helping secure the team's placement inside the regional top 20. First-year Brett Rose Castro closed out the scoring five with a 165th-place finish in 25:45.22.
Lexi Verdell (176th, 25:59.56) and Evangelina Sparks (199th, 26:29.62) also turned in strong performances to round out Denison's seven-runner lineup.
After a season of growth, standout efforts, and postseason learning, the Big Red carry meaningful momentum into their preparation for the 2025 campaign.
