LYNCHBURG, Va. (March 24, 2024) – The Denison University women's track & field team began its 2024 outdoor campaign by competing at the Dr. Jack M. Tomas Alumni Invitational, hosted by the University of Lynchburg on Friday and Saturday.
Sophia Ellerkmann finished in second place in the 400 meter dash with a new personal record time of 57.31 seconds.
The 4x400 meter relay team of
Libby Hornick,
Ava Sinex,
Anaya Jolivette and
Piper Lee was also second at 4:14.07.
Jolivette added a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a personal record of 4.94 meters (16' 2¼") and was 12th in the 100 meter dash at 12.89 seconds.
In the hurdles,
Ava Sinex was ninth in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal record time of 1:08.84.
In the 1,500 meter run,
Lexi Verdell was 11th at 5:10.28 and
Fiona Martinelli was 12th at 5:10.30.
Lastly in the track events,
Cara Bodary was 14th with a time of 2:25.19 in the 800 meter run.
In the hammer throw,
Kylee Silverman was third at 44.48 meters (145' 11") while
Amy Pollack was fifth at 44.10 meters (144' 8").
Silverman also added a fifth-place mark of 11.69 meters (38' 4") in the shot put while
Sydney Flores finished 12th at 11.07 meters (36' 3¾").
Flores led the way in the discus with an eighth-place toss of 35.63 meters (116' 10¾") while Silverman was 12th at 33.64 meters (110' 4¼").

- Quinn Greene – 53rd place in the 100 meter dash – 14.23 seconds
