GAMBIER, Ohio (February 23, 2024) – Denison University women's track & field collected two all-conference performances and six Saturday qualifiers on Friday afternoon as the Big Red currently sit in fifth place after day one of the 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Kenyon College. Totaling 16 points after the first day of action, the Big Red trail the College of Wooster (27 points) in fourth place while Wittenberg University (71.50 points) claimed the lead.
Denison had three scorers and three personal records in the weight throw, led by
Kylee Silverman with an all-conference performance (third place) after throwing 15.25 meters. She was followed by
Amy Pollack (13.30 meters) in sixth place and freshman
Mariel Drost (12.79 meters) in eighth.
Anaya Jolivette (4.82 meters) and
Stefany Sparks (4.74 meters) both made the top-10 in the long jump in ninth and 10th place, respectively, but just missed scoring points.
Denison finished off the night with an all-conference performance (third place) from
Fiona Martinelli,
Tessa Gerhardt,
Lexi Verdell and
Cara Bodary with a combined time of 12:51.45 in the distance medley relay.
In the prelims,
Sophia Ellerkmann finished first with a time of 59.12 seconds in the 400 meter dash and was second with a time of 25.83 seconds in the 200 meter dash. Jolivette, meanwhile, was third with a time of 7.94 seconds in the 60 meter dash prelims and was fourth behind Ellermann with a time of 26.51 seconds in the 200 meter dash.

NEXT UP: The Big Red will return to the track at Kenyon on Saturday, February 24, for day two of the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Field events will begin at 10 a.m. and the track events will start at 2:15 p.m.
