WESTERVILLE, Ohio (February 10, 2024) – Denison University women's track & field placed fourth overall out of 12 teams with 62 points at the 2024 All-Ohio Indoor Track & Field Championships held on Saturday, February 10, at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. The Big Red were the highest-finishing team from the North Coast Athletic Conference and trailed only Mount Union (120 points), Case Western (101.50 points) and Ohio Northern (89.50 points) in the team standings while also finishing two points ahead of conference foe Wooster (60) in fifth place.
Sophia Ellerkmann played a part in three wins and another top-two finish for the Big Red. She won both the 200 meter dash (26.28 seconds) and the 400 meter dash (58.91 seconds) while also running the first leg of Denison's first-place team in the 4x400 meter relay.
Running after Ellerkamnn in the 4x400 and helping to put together a winning-time of 4:11.05 was
Piper Lee,
Tessa Gerhardt and
Ava Sinex.
In addition to the 4x400, Denison's 4x200 meter relay team consisting of
Anaya Jolivette, Ellerkmann, Gerhardt and Lee was second with a time of 1:49.16.
Jolivette also added a second-place time in the 200 meter dash (26.69 seconds) and a third-place finish in the finals of the 60 meter dash (8.01 seconds).
Sydney Brown finished fifth with a new personal record time of 9.51 seconds in the 60 meter hurdle prelims before finishing sixth in the finals at 9.56 seconds.
Lastly, finishing back-to-back in fifth place and sixth place, respectively, in the 400 meter dash was Lee (1:02.76) and
Libby Hornick (1:02.78).
