WOOSTER, Ohio (January 25, 2024) – Only five days after competing at the Fighting Scots Invitational, the Denison University women's track & field team returned to the College of Wooster for a traditional dual meet. Despite recording five wins in 14 events, the Big Red came up short in the end, 77-58, to the Fighting Scots.
Denison took three of the top-four spots in the weight throw to take a 7-4 lead after the first event.
Kylee Silverman (14.28 meters) earned the win while
Amy Pollack (11.91 meters) was third and
Mariel Drost (11.48 meters) was fourth.
Silvermann added a second-place mark in the shot put with a toss of 11.42 meters while also finishing as the runner-up in their respective field events were
Sydney Brown (1.26 meters) in the high jump and
Brooklyn Heller (2.60 meters) in the pole vault.
Denison defeated Wooster in the 4x200 meter relay for the second year in a row as
Piper Lee,
Libby Hornick,
Tessa Gerhardt and
Ava Sinex put together a combined time of 1:50.51.
Also for the second year in row against Wooster, Denison picked up the win the 400 meter dash as this time, it was Hornick finishing first with a time of 1:04.68.
Fiona Coleman followed in second place with a time of 1:07.02 while
Abby McChesney was third at 1:09.06, making it a sweep of the top-three spots for the Big Red.
Anaya Jolivette won the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.30 seconds and also won the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.95 seconds. Behind Jolivette in the 200 was Lee (28.28) in second, Sinex (29.25) in third and Gerhardt (29.31) in fourth as the Big Red had the top-four finishers in the event.

NEXT UP: After sending a small number of athletes to compete in the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg University this weekend (Jan. 27), the Big Red will return to action on Saturday, February 3, when they host the annual Bob Shannon Invitational inside the Mitchell Fieldhouse. Field events will begin at 11 a.m. with the running events to follow at 1 p.m.
