WOOSTER, Ohio (September 21, 2023) – Denison University women's cross country placed four runners in the top-six, allowing them to win their annual dual meet with the College of Wooster on Thursday evening from the L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course. The Big Red totaled 26 points thanks to their five runners finishing second, third, fifth, sixth and 10th overall. The Fighting Scots, meanwhile, finished just three points back of the Big Red with 29.
With Denison's wins over Wooster in both 2022 and 2023, this marks the first time since the two teams began competing against each other in an annual dual meet in 2016 that the same team has won in back-to-back years.
Cara Bodary led Denison with a second-place overall finish and a 5K time of 20:59.8, only 36.6 seconds out of first place (Dylan Kretchmar; 20:23.2).
Fiona Martinelli was right behind Bodary in third place with a time of 21:09.6 while
Aly Marshall (22:13.1) was fifth,
Emily Porter (22:26.4) was sixth and
Lexi Verdell (23:32.3) was 10th.
