GAMBIER, Ohio (September 1, 2023) – Senior Cara Bodary and freshman Fiona Martinelli led the Denison University women's cross country team with a pair of top-10 finishes during the 2023 season opener on Friday evening at the Owls Opener.

Bodary finished the 4K course with a seventh-place time of 16:07.32 while Martinelli was ninth in her first collegiate race with a time of 16:19.74.

Senior Michaela Hassler (16:52.02) and freshman Aly Marshall (16:52.70) finished back-to-back in 14th and 15th place while freshman Lexi Verdell (17:00.67) was 17th and freshman Emily Porter (17:16.47) and junior Jessica Coomber (17:29.60) were back-to-back in 20th and 21st place.

Next up, Denison will host the NCAC Preview Meet on Saturday, September 9, at Infirmary Mound Park in Granville, Ohio.
