DU women finish sixth at conference championships

DELAWARE, Ohio (May 6, 2023) – Denison University women's track and field finished sixth overall at the 2023 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University.

With 84 points on the weekend, the Big Red landed just three points behind the College of Wooster (87) in fifth place and were six points behind DePauw University (90) in fourth. Wittenberg University took the team championship with 216 points, well ahead of Ohio Wesleyan (149.50) in second and Oberlin College (135.50) in third.

Erin Anderson won the conference championship in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.33 while Sophia Ellerkmann finished second with a personal record time of 57.96 seconds in the finals of the 400 meter dash and added a fifth-place time with another personal record of 26.35 seconds in the finals of the 200 meter dash.

Ellerkmann and Emily Brennan also helped contribute to all-conference performances in both relay races as Denson was second in the 4x100 meter relay (Lillian Wallace-Larkin, Anaya Jolivette) with a time of 49.59 seconds and was third at 4:02.47 in the 4x400 (Erin Mayle, Anderson).

In addition to running in the 4x100, Jolivette was second in the finals of the 100 meter dash with a personal record time of 12.18 seconds while Brennan added a fourth-place finish with a personal record time of 1:08.72 in the 400 meter hurdle finals.

Denison's final all-conference performance from Saturday came from Mikaila Carpenter with a personal record mark of 38.92 meters to finish third in the discus. It was her second all-conference performance of the meet after taking second in the shot put on Friday.

Amy Pollack (46.50 meters) led the Big Red with a fourth-place finish in the hammer while Kylee Silverman (42.31 meters) was seventh and Tam Dzolic (41.40 meters) was eighth.

Lastly, Anna Lindower was seventh with a time of 4:55.69 in the 1,500 meter run.
