
DELAWARE, Ohio (April 8, 2023) – Denison University women's track & field landed 10 top-five finishes on Saturday, April 8, as they placed fifth overall at the 2023 Marv Frye Invitational held at Ohio Wesleyan University. It was the second straight fifth-place finish for the Big Red after doing so at the Centre Invite last weekend.
Totaling 67 team points, the Big Red finished ahead of North Coast Athletic Conference foe Kenyon College in sixth place with 27 points. Baldwin Wallace University was fourth with 93 points.
Sophia Ellerkmann finished second with a personal record time of 59.35 seconds in the 400 meter dash and
Anaya Jolivette was fourth in the 100 meter dash at 12.82 seconds.
Carolyn Trent was third with a time of 19:24.16 in the 5,000 meter run and
Anna Lindower was fourth in the mile at 5:22.26.
Denison took fourth place in both the 4x100 meter relay (51.00 seconds) and the 4x400 (4:15.06).
In the field events, the throws led the way as
Mikaila Carpenter was third in the shot put at 12.46 meters and was fourth in the discus at 36.18 meters. In the hammer,
Kylee Silverman was third at 44.13 meters while
Amy Pollack was fifth at 42.18 meters.

NEXT UP: Denison will return to action on Wednesday, April 12, when they host the College of Wooster for a traditional dual meet. Field events will start at 3:30 p.m. followed by the track events at 5 p.m. at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium. Then on Saturday, April 15, the Big Red will head back to Ohio Wesleyan for the 2023 All-Ohio Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
