Denison women host Senior Day & Big Red Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 28, 2023) – Denison University women's track & field recorded 15 top-three finishes on Friday as it hosted the annual Big Red Invitational on the campus of Denison University in Granville. It was also Senior Day for eight Denison women's track & field athletes.

Denison earned a pair of wins on the track from Anaya Jolivette in the 100 meter dash (12.64 seconds) and Carolyn Trent in the 3,000 meter run (personal record 11:24.15).

In addition, Catelyn Gagnier tied for first the pole vault with a leap of 3.40 meters.

Mikaila Carpenter was second in the shot put with a mark of 11.90 meters while Stefany Sparks was second in the long jump at 4.83 meters and Rainer Yaeger was second in the triple jump at 10.00 meters.

On the track, Anna Lindower was second in the 800 meter run with personal record a time of 2:24.29 while Emily Brennan was second in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:10.33, Sophia Ellerkmann was second in the 200 meter dash at 26.72 seconds, and Kate Immesberger was second in the 3,000 meter run at 11:52.84.

On Friday, the teams finished up competition in the women's hammer as Amy Pollack (45.47 meters) finished in second place and Kylee Silverman (44.39 meters) was third.

  • Erin Anderson: She is a five-time All-NCAC performer who helped Denison win the 4x400 meter relay while also taking third place in the 800 meter run at this year's NCAC Indoor Championships. She has three all-conference performances in the 800 overall, and she finished in first place in the 800 during the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships in both 2022 and 2023. For outdoor track & field, her personal record of 2:15.07 in the 800 meter run ranks No. 2 in program history while her personal record of 59.83 seconds in the 400 meter dash ranks No. 8. She will be both a three-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll and Denison Top-50 Scholar-Athlete this year. At this year's James T. Glerum '82 Top-50 Scholar-Athlete Honors Celebration, Anderson was recognized with the Lynn Schweizer Award, which recognizes the highest-ranking senior varsity female scholar-athlete, by GPA. She was also a 2021-22 Denison Chi Alpha Sigma inductee and has won six NCAC Athlete of the Week awards in her career.
  • Mikaila Carpenter: She won the shot put at the NCAC Outdoor Championships with a throw of 12.65 meters last season. For outdoor track & field, her personal record in the shot put of 13.19 meters ranks No. 2 in program history while her personal record of 36.44 meters in the discus ranks No. 10. She is a two-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll and was named a 2021-22 Denison Chi Alpha Sigma inductee. At this year's James T. Glerum '82 Top-50 Scholar-Athlete Honors Celebration, Carpenter was honored with the Student-Athlete Diversity and Inclusion Award, which recognizes a senior student-athlete who has promoted and demonstrated excellence and leadership in inclusion, diversity, antiracism and equity work within athletics. Carpenter was also a two-time All-NCAC player for the Big Red women's basketball team.
  • Audrey Corrigan: At this year's NCAC Indoor Championships, she ran personal best times of 11:16.14 in the 3,000 meter run and 19:48.46 in the 5,000 meter run. At the 2022 NCAC Cross Country Championship, Corrigan finished 54th with a time of 28:09.5 and ran her career-best 6K time of 26:07.5 at the DIII National Preview Meet in East Lansing, Michigan.
  • Tam Dzolic: Her personal record of 14.60 meters in the weight throw ranks No. 4 in program history for indoor track & field. For outdoor track & field, her personal record of 41.45 meters in the hammer ranks No. 7 in program history while her personal record of 11.21 meters in the shot put ranks No. 9.
  • Roberta Fisher: She is a distance runner, competing in the 3K, 5K and 10K. She earned All-Ohio honors with a third-place finish in the 10,000 meter run at this year's All-Ohio Outdoor Championships. At the 2022 NCAC Cross Country Championship, Fisher finished 45th with a time of 27:04.2 and ran her career-best 6K time of 25:43.9 at the Great Lakes Regional Championships in Holland, Michigan.
  • Anna Lindower: She earned two All-NCAC performances with third-place finishes in both the 5,000 meter run and the one mile run at this year's NCAC Indoor Championships. She ran new personal bests of 10:44.56 in the 3,000 meter run, 2:27.94 in the 800 meter run, 5:17.44 in the one mile run and 18:12.75 in the 5,0000 meter run during this year's indoor track & field season while also setting a new personal best of 4:59.18 in the 1,500 meter run last weekend at the Ohio State University Jesse Owens Classic. Lindower has also been named as the NCAC Indoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week twice as a senior. At the 2022 NCAC Cross Country Championship, Lindower earned Third-Team All-NCAC honors with a 16th-place finish and a time of 24:44.1, and she was 73rd with a personal best 6K time of 23:04.1 at the Great Lakes Regional Championships in Holland, Michigan.
  • Aileen Schretzmayer: She is a middle distance and distance runner who was a 2022-23 Denison Chi Alpha Sigma inductee. Schretzmayer was top-five for the Big Red women's cross country team at both the NCAA Championship and the Great Lakes Regional Championship over the last two years. She finished second on the team and 30th overall at the 2021 NCAC Cross Country Championship and ran a personal record 6K time of 25:02.3 at this year's Regional Championship in Holland, Michigan.
  • Carolyn Trent: She is a middle distance and distance runner. She has a personal best of 19:24.16 in the 5,000 meter run. Trent was top-three for the Big Red women's cross country team at both the NCAA Championship and the Great Lakes Regional Championship over the last two years. She finished second on the team and 28th overall with a time of 25:49.3 at the 2022 NCAC Cross Country Championship and was second on the team and 94th overall with a time of 23:44.7 at this year's Regional Championship in Holland, Michigan.
 
NEXT UP: The Big Red will be back in action next weekend (May 5-6) when they travel to Delaware, Ohio, for the 2023 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
