DELAWARE, Ohio (April 15, 2023) – Denison University sophomore
Anaya Jolivette captured two individual event titles and helped win one more in the 4x400 meter relay at the 2023 All-Ohio Championship meet, helping the Big Red to a third-place finish as a team on Saturday.
Case Western Reserve University won the All-Ohio team title with 111 points while second-place Ohio Wesleyan University (109) was just 4.5 points in front of Denison (104.50 points). The Big Red also finished seven points in front of Ohio Northern University (97.50) in fourth place while Oberlin College (76) was fifth and the College of Wooster (73.50) was sixth.
Jolivette won both the 100 meter dash (12.19 seconds) and the 200 meter dash (25.24 seconds) for the second year in a row. Both times were new a personal record for Jolivette and now rank third all-time in program history for outdoor track & field.
Denison added two more individual championships on the track as
Sophia Ellerkmann won the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.82 seconds while
Erin Anderson won the 800 meter run for the second year in a row with a time of 2:20.04.
In the final event of the day, Ellerkmann,
Emily Brennan, Jolivette and
Erin Mayle won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:07.28.
Also on the track,
Claire Campanelli (personal best 43:25.50) and
Roberta Fisher (45:46.90) both earned All-Ohio honors with finishes of second and third place, respectively, in the 10,000 meter run.
In the shot put,
Mikaila Carpenter was second with a throw of 13.19 meters, which was a new personal record and now ranks second all-time in program history, while
Kylee Silverman was third at 11.45 meters.
Stefany Sparks was fifth in the long jump with a personal best of 4.91 meters,
Sydney Brown was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal best of 1:11.74, and
Anna Lindower was sixth in the 1,500 meter run with a personal best of 5:00.32.
Tiffin Track Carnival: Denison also sent Lindower to compete in the 5,000 meter run at the Tiffin University Track Carnival, held on Friday, April 14, where she finished in fifth place out of 17 runners with a personal record time for outdoor track & field of 18:23.44. That time ranks third in the North Coast Athletic Conference so far this season.
