GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 12, 2023) – Denison women's track & field fell to the College of Wooster on Wednesday evening, 83-71, in a traditional dual meet hosted at Denison University in Granville.
In the throwing events,
Kylee Silverman set a new school record of 48.89 meters to win the hammer while
Amy Pollack (48.75 meters) was second, also besting the previous school record of 47.80 meters set by
Leah Ackerman at the Wooster Dual Meet last season.
Denison also picked up a win and had four of the top-five throwers in the shot put as
Mikaila Carpenter was first at 12.10 meters, followed by Silverman (11.49 meters) in third,
Tam Dzolic (personal best 11.21 meters) in fourth and Pollack (personal best 10.10 meters) in fifth.
The Big Red finished second through fifth in the discus as Carpenter was second with a personal best of 36.44 meters while Silverman (33.05 meters) was third, Pollack (32.74 meters) was fourth and Dzolic (30.80 meters) was fifth.
Also in the field events,
Rainer Yaeger won the triple jump for the second year in a row with a leap of 9.89 meters, and Dzolic set her first of two personal bests in the meet with a third-place finish in the javelin at 16.86 meters.
Denison swept the top-five spots in the 1,500 meter run as
Carolyn Trent was first with a new personal record time of 5:14.35 and
Audrey Corrigan was second also with a personal best at 5:23.13. In addition,
Kate Immesberger (5:23.92) was third,
Claire Campanelli (5:38.79) was fourth and
Jessica Coomber (personal best 5:38.81) was fifth.
Denison took four of the top-five spots in the 800 meter run as
Erin Mayle (2:29.52) was first,
Cara Bodary (2:31.35) was second,
Fiona Coleman (2:44.75) was fourth and
Julia Renetzky (2:48.43) was fifth.
Sophia Ellerkmann won the 200 meter dash with a personal record time of 26.53 seconds while
Fatima Henderson-Bernard was third at 28.54 seconds and
Annelise Bentley was fourth with a personal best of 28.60 seconds.
In all, Denison earned four wins on the track asÂ
Anaya Jolivette won the 100 meter dash for the second year in a row with a time of 12.70 seconds.
