DANVILLE, Ky. (April 1, 2023) – The Big Red women's track and field team finished in fifth place at the Centre Invite on Saturday after collecting 46 points and finishing just 1.5 points ahead of Ohio Wesleyan University (44.50 points) at the brand new Andy Frye Stadium.
Denison was led in the field events by
Mikaila Carpenter's personal record throw and second-place finish of 12.98 meters in the shot put and
Rainer Yaeger's fourth-place leap of 10.24 meters in the triple jump.
Kylee Silverman added a ninth-place finish in the shot put at 11.21 meters while
Stefany Sparks was also ninth in the long jump with a personal best of 5.02 meters.
On the track,
Caliyah Bennett won the 100 meter hurdles with a personal record time of 15.51 seconds while
Erin Anderson was second in the 400 meter dash at 1:00.39 and
Claire Campanelli was fourth in the 10,000 meter run at 43:01.30.
In the sprints,
Anaya Jolivette was eighth with a time of 27.77 seconds in the 200 meter dash while Bennett was 10th in the 100 meter dash at 13.11 seconds.
Denison also added a third-place finish with a time of 50.29 seconds in the 4x100 meter relay by Bennett,
Fatima Henderson-Bernard, Jolivette and
Sydney Brown while in the 4x400 meter relay, Anderson,
Erin Mayle,
Annelise Bentley and
Cara Bodary were seventh at 4:22.21.
