TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (February 25, 2023) – The No. 26 Denison University women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision in neutral-court action against No. 18 Washington University in St. Lous on Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana.
The Big Red had a chance to take the lead after doubles, but could not finish it off as
Sydney Cianciola and
Sarah Robertson (No. 1 doubles) and
Caroline Lopez and
Kendall Schrader (No. 2 doubles) both got off to leads of 2-0, 3-2, 5-4 and 6-5. Unfortunately, both duos came up short by scores of 8-7 in the end.
In singles, Robertson earned a 7-6 win over Nina Moravek in the first set at No. 2 singles before falling 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 6-2.
Meanwhile, Cianciola won her second set 6-4 over Eliana Hanna at No. 1 singles before ultimately falling 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
Tomorrow on Sunday, February 26, the Big Red will remain in Terre Haute to open up North Coast Athletic Conference action against DePauw University at 8:30 a.m. before playing Gustavus Adolphus College at 1 p.m.
