Denison Rolls on Day Two of Spring Break Trip

Lake Nona, Fla. - The Big Red continue to roll, winning their 10th straight and fourth-straight sweep, defeating Franklin and Marshall and Mary-Hardin Baylor 7-0 each. The Big Red were excellent in all facets down South from doubles to singles. Denison moves to 11-2 after their wins today.

Doubles: The Big Red were not fazed by the early start, sweeping their way through doubles once again. Ariana Rodriguez and Anna Leach beat their opponent soundly, winning 6-1 in the first doubles match. Peyton Oda and Rafaella Ramos picked up the first point in the No. 1 flight with a 6-4 decision, and Dasha Chistyakova and Caitlin Van Winkle secured the sweep with a tight 7-6 (7-3) win to head into singles.

Singles: Not losing any steam, Denison continued their dominant path into singles, sweeping Franklin and Marshall in straight sets in all but one match. Maddie Larsen made quick work in the No. 6 flight, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1 to take a 2-0 advantage. Ramos followed up shortly after with a 6-0, 6-0 decision, and Chistyakova secured the team win with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 4 frame. Van Winkle, Oda, and Nowicki completed the sweep with wins, with Nowicki's being the longest in a three-set thriller to give the Big Red the overall sweep and their ninth-straight victory.

Doubles: Following their performance against Franklin and Marshall, another complete sweep took care of Mary-Hardin Baylor in the evening slate. Larsen and Nowicki took care of business with a 6-3 decision in the No. 2 flight, and Oda and Ramos secured the point with a 6-4 win in the No. 1 spot. Gallagher and Van Winkle completed the sweep with a 6-2 win to go into singles play flawless.

Singles: Denison made quick work across the board, sweeping in all spots to earn their second overall sweep of the day. Van Winkle started off with a smooth victory, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 flight, and Gallagher picked up her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 decision. Chistyakova clinched the team win with a 6-0, 6-3 victory in the No. 3 spot, and Nowicki, Larsen, and Oda capped off the sweep with wins of their own to go 2-0 on the day.
