GREENCASTLE, Ind. (February 24, 2023) –
Caliyah Bennett broke the school record and was first overall in the 60 meter hurdle prelims before finishing third in the 60 meter dash prelims. Through six events at the 2023 North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, Denison University is in seventh place with 18 points while Oberlin College leads with 48 points.
The meet started for Denison with a pair of point scorers (top-8) in the weight throw, led by
Kylee Silverman in fifth place with a mark of 14.79 meters and followed by
Tam Dzolic in seventh place at 13.86 meters.
Catelyn Gagnier added an eighth-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 2.80 meters.
On the track,
Anna Lindower got things started with an all-conference finish in third place in the 5,000 meter run as she finished with a time of 18:12.75.
Then at the end of the evening, Denison's group of
Carolyn Trent,
Annelise Bentley,
Erin Mayle and
Cara Bodary finished fourth with a time of 13:15.56 in the distance medley relay.
In the 60 meter hurdle prelims, Bennett put up a winning-time of 9.17 seconds before finishing third in the 60 meter dash prelims at 8.04 seconds. Bennett's school record in the 60 meter hurdles breaks the previous record of 9.18 seconds set by Aedin Brennan on February 28, 2016.
Anaya Jolivette also qualified for the finals in the 60 meter dash with an eighth-place time of 8.21 seconds in the prelims.
Sophia Ellerkmann was second in the prelims of the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.99 while
Erin Anderson was fourth in the 800 meter run prelims at 2:29.83.
Lastly,
Fatima Henderson-Bernard was eighth in the 200 meter dash prelims with a time of 27.37 seconds.
