OBERLIN, Ohio (May 6, 2022) – The Denison University women's track & field team posted a trio of conference titles and two other All-NCAC performances on the final day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Big Red compiled 59 points during day two on their way to a fourth-place finish.
It was a good finish for a Big Red team that was picked to finish seventh in the NCAC Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll. In the end, Denison finished with 99 points, beating out Allegheny College (91) for fourth while DePauw University (121.50) was third, Ohio Wesleyan University (137) was second, and the host Oberlin College (187) was first.

After she won both the 60 and 200 meter dashes at the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships earlier this season, freshman
Anaya Jolivette won both the 100 meter dash (12.32 seconds) and the 200 meter dash (25.43 seconds) this time around at the outdoor championships. She was named the NCAC Newcomer of the Year just like she was during the indoor season, but this time, she also earned the conference's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Year award.
In between Jolivette's championship runs,
Erin Anderson earned all-conference in the 800 meter run with a second-place finish and a time of 2:21.39.
Senior
Ashley Schmoll had a great day in the field events, winning the discus with a long throw of 37.54 meters and finishing third to earn all-conference as well in the javelin (30.54 meters).
Mikaila Carpenter finished fifth behind Schmoll in the discus at 35.49 meters while
Becca Skolnick was seventh at 33.50 meters, helping the Big Red earn 16 points toward their team total in the event. That moved the Big Red up from fifth place to third place (68 points after 13 events) at the time being.
Denison's 4x100 meter relay team of
Lillian Wallace-Larkin, Jolivette,
Rainer Yaeger and
Caliyah Bennett finished fifth with a time of 50.34 seconds.
Last but certainly not least,
Rainer Yaeger finished in seventh in the triple jump at 9.83 meters while
Caliyah Bennett was also seventh in the 100 meter hurdles at 16.41 seconds.

NEXT UP: The Big Red will turn their attention to a pair of final national championship qualifying meets at North Central College (Ill.), starting with the Carius/Gregory Invitational on May 12-13 and followed by the North Central College Combined Events Qualifier on May 16-17. After that, the Mount Union Last Chance meet with be on Thursday, May 19.
