HIGH POINT, N.C. (April 2, 2022) – The Denison University women's track & field team opened its 2022 outdoor track & field season this weekend as the Big Red competed during the VertKlasse Meeting, hosted by High Point University on Friday and Saturday.

FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS
Denison's top performance on Friday came from senior Leah Ackerman in the shot put as she finished in eighth place with a throw of 11.50 meters (37-8¾).

Freshman Catelyn Gagnier finished 11th in the pole vault at 3.20 meters (10-6). Gagnier had a great start to her career during the indoor track & field season as she earned both all-region and all-conference honors after clearing a new Denison school record height of 3.49 meters in the pole vault at the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship.

SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS
Junior Erin Anderson finished second in the 800 meter run (Participation) with a time of 2:21.04, finishing behind only a runner from UNC-Greensboro at 2:20.20.

In the hammer, Ackerman (46.24 meters; 4th place) picked up her second top-10 finish of the weekend while sophomore Kylee Silverman (44.67 meters) finished 11th and Tam Dzolic finished 20th and set a new personal best at 40.88 meters.

Lastly, after claiming NCAC titles in both the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes as a freshman during the indoor track & field season, Anaya Jolivette got her career in outdoor track & field off to a strong start as she finished 16th and was the top NCAA Division III runner in the 100 meter dash (Participation) with a time of 12.77 seconds.
