DELAWARE, Ohio (April 16, 2022) – The Denison University women's track & field team traveled back to Ohio Wesleyan University for the second weekend in a row to compete in the 2022 All-Ohio Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where the Big Red placed fifth out of 14 teams with 74 points.
Case Western Reserve won the All-Ohio team title with 132 points while second-place Ohio Wesleyan was seven points behind with 125. Only 2.5 points separated third-place Wooster (113.50 points) from fourth-place Oberlin (111), while sixth-place Wittenberg (70.50) was only 3.5 points behind the Big Red.
Four of Denison's three All-Ohio Championships came from freshman and two came from
Anaya Jolivette, who won the 100 meter dash with a finals time of 12.39 seconds and won the 200 meter dash in 25.68 seconds.
Fellow-freshman
Catelyn Gagnier won the pole vault with a leap of 3.51 meters (11-06.25) while junior
Erin Anderson won the 800 meter run after crossing the finish line in 2:18.05.
In the throwing events,
Leah Ackerman was second in the shot put at 11.53 meters (37-10.00) to earn All-Ohio and was sixth in the hammer at 44.62 meters (146-05),
Kylee Silverman was fifth in the shot put (11.12 meters) and seventh in the hammer (44.59 meters), and
Tam Dzolic was eighth in the shot put (10.78 meters) and ninth in the discus (34.53 meters).
In the distance events,
Michaela Hassler was sixth in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 42:44.06 while teammate
Roberta Fisher was one spot behind her in seventh (43:02.03). Additionally,
Maya Newman was seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (13:39.67) while
Cara Bodary was eighth in the 1,500 meter run (5:06.19).
Lastly, the Big Red 4x400 meter relay team of Anderson,
Sophia Ellerkmann, Jolivette and
Lillian Wallace-Larkin finished fourth with a time of 4:16.90.
