ST. LOUIS, Mo. (April 16, 2022) – The No. 30 Denison University women's tennis team took on the No. 1 nationally-ranked team in all of NCAA Division III on Saturday, but in the end, the Big Red fell by a final score of 9-0 in a neutral-site matchup against the Maroons.
The closest doubles match was an 8-7 (7-4) tiebreaker loss by
Hannah Bradvica and
Susan Biederstedt at No. 3 doubles, and then in singles, Denison's best performance came from
Caroline Lopez with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat in the five spot.
Other matches included an 8-2 loss for
Monique Brual and Lopez at No. 2 doubles and a 6-0, 6-2 loss for
Sydney Cianciola at No. 1 singles,
Denison is now 10-6 overall on the season with 15 consecutive losses against Chicago since 2008. The Maroons, meanwhile, who have not lost since their season opener on February 11, a 4-3 decision against NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan University, improved to 14-1 overall.
At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, the Big Red will play their final road match of the regular season at No. 21 Kenyon College, which is also the site for the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament set for April 29-May 1.
