DELAWARE, Ohio (April 10, 2022) – Garnering two event titles and six other top-five finishes, Denison University women's track & field traveled to Delaware, Ohio, on Saturday, April 9, to compete in the 2022 Marv Frye Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University's George Gauthier Track. As a team, the Big Red tied with Baldwin Wallace University for fifth place out of 14 teams with 62 points.
Denison's two event titles came from freshman
Catelyn Gagnier in the pole vault (3.51 meters) and junior
Erin Anderson in the 400 meter dash (1:01.15).
The Big Red also picked up a pair of second-place finishes from senior
Maya Newman in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (13:46.56) and freshman
Anaya Jolivette in the 100 meter dash (12.63 seconds).
Sophomore
Rainer Yaeger added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at 9.78 meters and was sixth in the long jump at 4.61 meters.
Denison's best performances in the throwing events came from
Kylee Silverman with a sixth-place showing in the hammer (44.97 meters) and a ninth-place finish in the discus (32.38 meters), and from
Becca Skolnick in eighth in the javelin (21.90 meters).
In the distance events, sophomore
Cara Bodary was fifth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:42.93.

NEXT UP: The Big Red will return to action on Wednesday, April 13, when they host the College of Wooster for a traditional dual meet. Field events will start at 3:30 p.m. followed by the track events at 5 p.m. at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium. Then on Saturday, April 16, the Big Red will head back to Ohio Wesleyan for the 2022 All-Ohio Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
