Big Red sweep Lords, NCAC East to close out regular season

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- No. 27 Denison men's tennis defeated 14th-ranked Kenyon College in a 5-0 decision on Wednesday afternoon at the Jasper Tennis Center in Gambier, Ohio. Seventeen days after defeating the Lords for the first time since 2006, Wednesday's victory helped the Big Red close out the regular season with a perfect 6-0 record in NCAC East divisional play.

The Big Red started strong in doubles and came out to a 3-0 lead, first starting with Patrick McGuigan and Akshat Agarwal defeating Harshal Rukhaiyar and Jack Wagner, 8-3. Vlad Rotnov and Andy Mackler took down Evan Dean and Angelo Vidal, 8-5. Tim Cianciola and Jack Bulger closed out doubles with an 8-5 win over Thomas Kallarakal and Luis Andres Platas.
On the singles court, Marc-Lennart Harms defeated Evan Dean, 6-2, 6-0 in No. 4 singles. Mackler handed Vidal a 6-0, 6-1 loss in No. 5 play to clinch the win for the Big Red. The win brings the Big Red to a 9-2 overall record and 6-0 in the NCAC East. The loss sends the Lords to an overall record of 2-3 and 1-3 in the NCAC East.

Following a pair of 9-0 wins over Allegheny on April 17, Denison will carry their undefeated conference record into this year's NCAC Championship match where the Big Red will host the winner of the NCAC West division at the Denison Tennis Courts in Granville. The date, time, and Denison's opponent in this year's title match are still to be determined.
