MEADVILLE, Pa. – Denison women's track & field tallied five individual victories on Friday afternoon as the Big Red tied for second place overall at the Marty Goldberg Invitational hosted by Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. Finishing with a team score of 96, Denison tied for second place with Wooster (96) while meet host Allegheny won the team title with 159 points.
- In the field events, the Big Red tallied four of their five event titles on the day, including pair of new personal-best marks from Mikaila Carpenter and Danielle Wydick. In the pole vault, Wydick placed first overall after tying for the second-best PR in program history with a final mark of 10'6" (3.20 meters), six-inches higher than her previous personal record. In the shot put, Carpenter tied for the third-longest PR in DU history after she connected on a maximum toss of 39'0.25" (11.89 meters). Leah Ackerman followed in second place at 38'9" (11.81 meters) and Ashley Schmoll took fifth (36'00"). Carpenter also placed fifth in the discus event with a final mark of 105'2" (32.06 meters) while Schmoll led the Big Red with a second-place finish (121'4"). Kylee Silverman won the hammer throw with a distance of 154'9" (47.18 meters) and Ackerman followed in second at 147'2" (44.87 meters).
- Denison also garnered a win from Rainer Yaeger in the triple jump who checked in with a winning leap of 33'7.50" (10.25 meters). Marija Pavlick placed second overall in the javelin at 112' (34.15 meters) and Danni Gutelius added a silver medal in the high jump with a maximum effort of 4'9" (1.45 meters).
- On the track, sophomore Erin Anderson added a trio of top-five finishes, highlighted by a victory in the 400-meter dash. In the 400, Erin Anderson crossed the finish line with a winning time of 1:03.09. She also placed fifth overall in the 200-meter dash (28.66) and then joined Tessa Gerhardt, Julie Kenyon, and Ava Batsel in the 4X400-meter relay to finish third overall at 4:48.00. In the 800-meter run, Gerhardt led the Big Red in third place at 2:32.83 while Cara Bodary followed in fifth at 2:35.31. Yaeger added a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (13.85) and Lily Anderson took fourth overall in the 1,500-meter run with a final time of 5:30.62. Anna Lindower trailed in fifth at 5:44.26.
Denison will return to action next Friday, April 30 when they host their final Quad Meet of the season at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium in Granville. Field events will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the running events to follow at 6 p.m.
