GRANVILLE, Ohio – Thanks to a strong showing in the field events and a pair of wins on the track, Denison women's track & field finished first overall at the Denison Quad Meet hosted at Piper Stadium in Granville on Friday evening. Following a third-place showing in the 4X400-meter relay and a pair of top-three finishes in the shot put, Denison posted a meet-best 175 points while Ohio Wesleyan followed in second at 169. Wooster took third at 133 and Wittenberg trailed in fourth place at 114.
- In the field events, freshman Kylee Silverman led the way for the Big Red with a trio of top-10 showings, including a new school record and event title in the hammer throw. Winning the event with a new program-record mark of 155'5" (47.37 meters), Silverman surpassed Arlesha Cospy, who held the previous record at 146'8". Leah Ackerman also broke Cospy's record with a second-place toss of 150' (45.72 meters), which now ranks as the second-best PR in Denison history. In the shot put, Ackerman posted the third-best PR in school history with a second-place finish at 39'0.25" (11.89 meters). Mikaila Carpenter followed in third place at 38'1.50" (11.62 meters), and Silverman took sixth (34').
- Denison also added wins in the discus and javelin with Ashley Schmoll setting a new PR in the discus at 126' (38.40 meters) and Marija Pavlick winning the javelin at 108'2" (32.96 meters).
- Rainer Yaeger took first overall in the triple jump (33'11.50") and fourth in the long jump (15'6"). In the pole vault, Danielle Wydick matched her PR for the second-straight week after coming in at 9'6.25" (2.90 meters).
- On the track, Monica Bradford tallied a trio of top-three finishes, including a new personal record and a win in the 100-meter hurdles. Taking first overall at 15.28, Bradford's final time checks in as the third-best PR in school history. She also took second in the 100-meter dash (13.34) and the 200-meter dash (27.50). In the distance events, Emily Willson won the 5,000-meter run with a final time of 18:30.58, which checks in as the 10th best PR in program history. Sarah Radziewicz finished second in the 10,000-meter run (39:56.70) and Aileen Schretzmayer took third in the 1,500-meter run (5:18.60). The meet was rounded out in the 4X400-meter relay with Tessa Gerhardt, Julie Kenyon, Ava Batsel, and Schretzmayer coming in third at 4:42.65.
Denison will return to action next Saturday, April 10 when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan University to take part in the Marv Frye Invitational.
