DELAWARE, Ohio – Finishing the day with four event titles and a new school record, Denison women's track & field placed third overall at Ohio Wesleyan's annual Marv Frye Invitational in Delaware. Checking in with a team score of 41.50, the Big Red finished ahead of fourth-place Wooster (34) and behind Allegheny (67) in second place. Meet-host Ohio Wesleyan placed first overall with 70.50 team points.
- In the field events, the Big Red finished the day with three event titles, including another school-record performance from freshman Kylee Silverman. After setting a new program record in the hammer throw just a week ago, Silverman increased her personal-best on Saturday when she landed a maximum launch of 155'10" (47.49 meters) to set a new DU record and take first overall. In the shot put, Leah Ackerman placed fourth overall at 37'2.50" (11.34 meters) and Mikaila Carpenter led the Big Red in third place with a final mark of 37'8" (11.48 meters). Ashley Schmoll closed out the top-five in fifth place with the eighth-best PR in school history at 36'4.25" (11.08 meters).
- Schmoll won the discus event with a final distance of 125'11" (38.38 meters), while also placing third in the javelin with a throw of 103'6" (31.54 meters). Junior Marija Pavlick placed first overall in the javelin after checking in at 110'2" (33.58 meters).
- Denison also found success in the long and triple jump where first-year Rainer Yaeger took third place in both events. In the long jump, Yaeger finished with a maximum leap of 15'4.75" (4.69 meters) before posting a final mark of 33'2.50" (10.12 meters) in the triple jump. Danielle Wydick placed second overall in the pole vault on a vault of 10' (3.05 meters), which comes in as the sixth-best PR in school history while Danni Gutelius took fourth in the high jump (4'10.25").
- On the track, Denison added a trio of top-three finishes, including an event title in the 100-meter hurdles from freshman Monica Bradford. Continuing her impressive rookie campaign for the Big Red, Bradford posted the third-fastest personal record in program history in the 100-meter hurdles when she clocked in at 15.22 to place first overall. Bradford also joined Yaeger, Schmoll, and Ava Batsel in the 4X100-meter relay to finish third overall with a final time of 52.72.
- In the distance events, freshman Michaela Hassler earned a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter when she clocked in at 20:26.04. In the 800-meter run, Cara Bodary landed in fifth place after clocking in at 2:35.86.
The Big Red will return to Ohio Wesleyan next Thursday, April 15 when they compete in the OWU Twilight Meet in Delaware, Ohio.
