SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Denison women's track & field garnered six individual titles and 63 points to place second overall at Wittenberg on Saturday afternoon at the Steemer Field House.
In the field events, the Big Red posted three event victories, headlined by a personal-best performance from
Kylee Silverman. In the weight throw, Silverman led the pack in first place with a launch of 47'2" (14.39 meters), which checks in as the third-best PR in school history. DU also added a first-place showing in the shot put when
Leah Ackerman won the event with a toss of 37'6.75" (11.45 meters) which also increased her standing in the Top-10 Personal Record list where she now sits with the fourth-best PR in program history. Sophomore
Danielle Wydick took home the gold in the pole vault with a winning-height of 9'0.25" (2.75 meters). The Big Red also grabbed a pair of top-three finishes from
Rainer Yaeger who took second in the long jump (15'6.25") and third in the triple jump (31'2").
Danni Gutelius also added a third-place showing in the high jump at 4'11.75" (1.52 meters).
On the track, freshman
Monica Bradford won the 60-meter hurdles with a new personal-best time of 9.23 seconds and
Ashley Schmoll followed in third (10.32). The Denison sprints also added a second place showing from
Hannah Bova in the 400-meter dash (1:14.17), and a pair of top-five finishes from
Ava Batsel in the 200-meter dash (3
rd – 29.24) and the 60-meter dash (5
th – 8.65). The distance events belonged to the Big Red after
Aileen Schretzmayer won the one-mile run in 5:49.83 and
Sarah Radziewicz cracked the Top-10 PR list in the 3,000-meter run with a winning time of 10:42.87.
In the 4X400-meter relay, Bradford, Yaeger,
Julie Kenyon, and
Tessa Gerhardt teamed up to place second overall at 4:33.13.
Denison will open their outdoor season on Saturday, March 27 when they travel to Wooster, Ohio for the Wooster Quad Meet.
