Denison women compete at Wittenberg in season opener

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (December 4, 2021) – The Denison University women's track & field team began its 2021-22 indoor campaign on Saturday at the Tiger Open hosted by Wittenberg University.

Senior Leah Ackerman won first place in the shot put with a toss of 12.51 meters (41' 0½") and was second in the weight throw at 14.74 meters (48' 4").

Sophomore Kylee Silverman placed fourth in the weight throw behind Ackerman with a mark of 14.11 meters (46' 3") and added a fifth-place finish in the shot put at 10.50 meters (34' 5½").

Also in the throwing events, junior Tam Dzolic was fifth in the weight throw at 13.50 meters (44' 3") and was 13th in the shot put at 9.39 meters (30' 9¾").

Also in the field events, junior Danielle Wydick finished in fourth place in the pole vault at 2.75 meters (9' 0¼") while sophomore Rainer Yaeger was fourth in the triple jump at 10.32 meters (33' 10¼") and eighth in the long jump at 4.89 meters (16' 0½").

In the running events, junior Erin Anderson finished in second place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.82.

Freshman Anaya Jolivette earned two top-five finishes after finishing fourth in the 60 meter dash finals with a time of 7.92 seconds and fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.51 seconds.

Junior Carolyn Trent earned two top-10 times with a second-place finish in the one mile run (5:47.88) and a sixth-place finish in the 800 meter run (2:37.73).

NEXT UP: Denison will return to action on Saturday, January 15, when it travels to Westerville, Ohio, to compete in the 2022 Snow Globe Open at Otterbein University.
