Denison women place eighth at NCAC's

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Led by a trio of personal records and an All-NCAC performance on Saturday, Denison women's track & field finished eighth overall at the 2020 North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville.

Headlined by three personal-best times in the running events, the Big Red received an all-conference showing from freshman Erin Anderson who set a new personal record in the 400-meter dash in third place at 1:01.64. Anderson also competed in the 4X200 and the 4X400 meter relay on Saturday, first joining Sydney Chandler, Ashley Schmoll, and Danni Gutelius in the 4X200 meter relay where they placed eighth overall at 1:54.57. In the 4X400, Anderson, Chandler, Molly Smith, and Aileen Schretzmayer clocked in at 4:22.47 to finish in eighth place.

In the 800-meter run, Smith logged a seventh-place finish with a final time of 2:25.74. Continuing DU's success in the distance events, the Big Red added two new personal-bests in the 1-mile run, including a final time of 5:42.00 from Schretzmayer to place 14th. Tommy Solberg also clocked in with a new PR at 5:44.43 to finish 15th. Freshman Carolyn Trent led the Big Red in 11th at 5:35.73.

In the 3,000-meter run, Denison added two, top-10 finishes, led by an eighth-place finish from Sarah Radziewicz with a final mark of 10:51.72. Emily Willson checked in at 10th place at 10:54.63 and Meagan Balch trailed in 13th at 11:05.01.

In the field events, freshman Danielle Wydick headlined their efforts in the pole vault with a three-way tie for fourth place at 9'11.75" (3.04 meters). In the high jump, Danni Gutelius placed 13th overall with a final height of 4'9.50" (1.46 meters).

In the weight throw to open the day, freshman Tam Dzolic posted DU's best performance in 13th place at 43'10.75" (13.38 meters) while Anna Vrancken followed in 14th at 43'10.75" (13.38 meters). Leah Ackerman landed in 18th at 38' (11.58 meters).

The Big Red will look to record their final marks of the indoor season on Friday, March 6 when they travel to Ada, Ohio to compete in the Polar Bear Final Qualifier at Ohio Northern University.
