GRANVILLE, Ohio – Denison women's track & field collected two personal records and two Saturday qualifiers on Friday afternoon as they currently sit in eighth place after day one of the 2020 North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Denison's Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville.
On the track, the Big Red earned a pair of qualifiers for the finals on Saturday, beginning with a second-place finish in the 400-meter prelims for freshman Erin Anderson who clocked in with a qualifying time of 1:02.24. Anderson also competed in the 200-meter prelims and placed 12th overall with a personal-best time of 28.31.
In the 800-meter run, junior Molly Smith qualified for the finals after clocking in at 2:24.58 in eighth place. Senior Sydney Lerda followed in 16th at 2:33.18.
In Friday's scored running events, the Big Red landed two runners in the top-10 of the 5,000-meter run led by sophomore Emily Willson in sixth place with a final time of 19:00.46. Junior Sarah Radziewicz followed in ninth place with a new PR time of 19:13.36. In the distance medley relay, the combination of Aileen Schretzmayer, Sydney Chandler, Tommy Solberg, and Carolyn Trent clocked in at 13:29.92 to place eighth overall.
In the field events, Denison with a trio in the top-20 in the shot put, led by sophomore Ashley Schmoll in ninth place with a maximum toss of 36'4.25" (11.08 meters). Leah Ackerman took 15th overall at 32'11.75" (10.05 meters) and Tam Dzolic placed 19th overall at 30'3.75" (9.24 meters).
The Big Red will return to the Mitchell Fieldhouse on Saturday for day two of the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Field events will begin at 10 a.m. and the running events will start at 2:30 p.m.
