OBERLIN, Ohio – Sophomore Ashley Schmoll posted five, top-10 finishes on Sunday as she placed 10th overall in the pentathlon at the 2020 North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championship hosted at Oberlin College. Finishing with a total score of 2,262, Schmoll finished 1,227 points ahead of 11th-place Taylor Barnhisel from Wittenberg (1,035) while landing 59 points behind Wooster's Claudia Partridge in ninth place (2,321). Ohio Wesleyan's Courtney Owens garnered the conference title with a total score of 3,388.
Schmoll's best showing of the day came in the shot put where she finished third overall with a maximum effort of 34'3" (10.44 meters). In the remaining field events, Schmoll landed in a tie for ninth in the high jump with a final mark of 4'4" (1.32 meters) and finished 10th overall in the long jump at 13'9" (4.19 meters).
On the track, Schmoll placed seventh overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a final time of 10.45. In the 800-meter run, she rounded out the competition in 10th place at 3:08.21.
Schmoll and the Big Red will return to action next Friday-Saturday, Feb. 28-29 when they host the 2020 NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville.
