Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Aaron Craddock's goal in the 87th minute propelled Wittenberg to a 2-1 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over Denison on Saturday night.
DU freshman Ethan Miracle had an early change inside the six-yard box, but the rookie's strong header was corralled by Witt goalie Jason Bowen. The Tigers Sean Williams netted the first goal in the 30th minute after burying a cross from Aaron Craddock from just inside the 18.
The lead was short lived however as Miracle tied the match at 1-1 with his team-leading sixth goal of the season at 33:43. The scored remained deadlocked as the two squads enter the intermission.
Denison's first shot attempt in the second half came in the 80th minute when Tucker Nuzum-Clark had a header attempt hit the post from close range. Nuzum-Clark's header was just the third shot of the period.
With 3:04 on the clock, Craddock ripped a shot from the top right corner of the box into the lower left corner for the go-ahead score. The Tigers successfully kept the Big Red away from the goalie over the final minutes of play to secure the conference victory.
Wittenberg held an 11-7 advantage in shots, including a 5-4 edge in shots on frame. The Tigers committed three more fouls than Denison (10-7) and attempted 10 corners compared to DU's three. Colin Cramer and Bowen each had three saves in goal for their respective teams.
Denison (6-8-1, 3-4 NCAC) returns home for a Wednesday night (Oct. 30) matchup against Hiram. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
