Box Score GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Three consecutive second-half goals powered the Denison men's soccer team to a 4-1 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over Oberlin on Tuesday night at Barclay-Thomsen Field.
Senior Matt Rush opened the scoring in the fifth minute. After settling a long pass from Dan Milhollen, Rush ripped a shot into the lower left corner for his four goal of the season. The Big Red maintained the one-goal advantage until Michael Canderlori snuck a shot inside the left post in the 44th minute of play off a feed from Thomas Kanter.
In the 69th minute, freshman Vitor Rocha used some fancy footwork in the midfield to elude several Oberlin players before slipping a through ball to Ethan Miracle inside the 18-yard box. Miracle capitalized on the golden opportunity with his team-high tying fifth goal of the year. Rush tacked on an insurance goal, his second of the match and fifth of the season, on a free kick from just outside the 18 that was buried into the upper left corner. The final tally came in the 83rd minute when Miracle forced a turnover and drew a foul inside the box that set up Luis Zamora's penalty kick goal.
Denison outshot the Yeomen 24-18, including a 10-5 advantage in shots on frame. Miracle finished the night with a game-high six shots, four on frame, and one goal, while Rocha and Leo Herard had five and four attempts, respectively.
