Nix in the mix at NCAC's Heptathlon

OBERLIN, Ohio – Senior Jessica Nix is currently in third place overall in the heptathlon at the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Combined Events Championships at Oberlin College. With 2,254 total points, Nix sits behind Ohio Wesleyan's Emily Brown in second place with 2,423 points and Wooster's Carolyn Webster who leads all competitors with 2,571 points.

Competing in four events on the first day of the two-day event, Nix earned her best finish in the shot put, placing second with a throw of 28'9.25" (8.77 meters). She also earned a top-three finish in the high jump event, tying with Oberlin's Abby Andrews in third place with a max height of 4'9" (1.45 meters).

In the running events, Nix posted a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, logging a personal-best time of 16.07. She also garnered a new PR in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 29.29 for a sixth-place finish.

Nix will return to Oberlin's Kahn Track & Shults Field on Sunday, April 29 for day two of the competition, including the long jump, javelin throw, and 800-meter run.
