Denison overcomes Pacific, 7-2

An unlikely top-40 matchup took place inside Mitchell Fieldhouse on Friday night as No. 35 Denison hosted No. 40 Pacific University of Forest Grove, Oregon.  Denison would prevail, 7-2 thanks to five singles wins and two doubles victories.

In doubles play, Jackson O'Gorman-Bean and Kevin Brown defeated Oscar Wright and Chris Dalton, 8-4.  O'Gorman-Bean and Brown are ranked ninth in the Central Region and are 9-1 overall.  At third doubles, Jamie McDonald and Owen Smith captured an 8-5 win, offsetting a hard fought 9-8 loss at No. 2 doubles by Jack O'Koniewski and Blake Burstein to Brennan Faith and Clark Wininger.

In singles, Brown posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Faith at No. 1.  He is 8-4 on the season.  O'Gorman-Bean defeated Wright, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) in the third flight.  The Big Red's remaining three points would come from O'Koniewski (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) Colin Bahin (6-3, 6-1) and Smith (6-4, 6-1).

Denison's match scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13 at Allegheny was postponed due to poor travel conditions.  No reschedule date has been determined at this time.  The Big Red will return to action on Friday when they take on the University of Toledo at 5 p.m.
