Denison Men’s Tennis Coaching Staff Earns ITA Regional Honors

Granville, Ohio- Earlier this week, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2025 ITA Division III Men's Regional Award recipients, and Denison Men's head coach David Schilling and assistant coach Grant MacPherson were named the Central Region's ITA Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year.

Every year, the ITA recognizes coaches and student-athletes for their excellence on the court and in their communities throughout the season. The Division III regional awards include: ITA Coach of the Year, ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Most Improved Player, ITA Senior Player of the Year, ITA Player to Watch, and ITA Community Service Award.

In his second year of coaching at Denison, Assistant Coach Grant MacPherson earned his first ITA Assistant Coach of the Year award. He has helped the coaching staff lead the Big Red to two consecutive NCAC Tournament Titles and a record of 48-7.

In just five years, Schilling has tallied a record of 107-18 (.856), making him the second-winningest head coach in Denison men's tennis program history. He is a three-time North Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year (2021, 2024, 2025), has led the team to four consecutive NCAC championships and three NCAC Tournament titles, and this marks his second Wilson ITA Central Region Coach of the Year nod (2022, 2025). This year, Coach Schilling has led the Big Red to a historic NCAA team tournament run, looking to secure the program's first National Title.
